Asset

A valuable and useful thing owned by a company worth having measurements about it. Can be anything users want to model: an engine, a plant, a process, a production line, a department.

Asset Inventory

A list of recorded Assets for a company.

Property

Attribute, quality, or characteristic of an asset. Can be:

  • Static property: its value doesn’t change over time (e.g. serial number).

  • Dynamic property: its value changes giving a time series (e.g. vibration along an axis). This properties are genereted through the data flows and can be:

  • Direct: This kind of property is directly associated to a data feed and its measurements without any operation involved.

  • Complex: They are the result of applying operations on data feeds and/or other properties to calculate more complex data and not a simple measurement.

Device

Hardware pieces that measure (sensors) and/or transport (gateways) measurements, commands or other types of information (events) from the assets to the platform and the other way round. There are several types:

...

There is information about devices that can be meassured and gathered, such us battery level, memory usage, healthckecks and so on.

Data feed

Each of the data streams coming from edge devices or systems that gather observational data.

Data flow (aka processing flow):

Set of operations performed with the events of feeds associated with a particular asset

Event

Each piece of data generated by devices and sensors and coming into the platform at a given moment within a feed.

Edge

Distributed computing area near the Assets where the platform can perform tasks, such as collect data, through Edge devices that run platform pieces of software.

Alarm

An indicator that informs users about equipment malfunctions, process deviatiosn, or abnormal conditions that requires a timely response.

Digital twin

Virtual representation that serves as the real-time digital counterpart of your physical assets and process.

Dashboard

A dashboards is an area or space where you can have, through different widgets, an overview of the data, metrics and visualizations related to your assets.

They let you monitor a lot of data at once to quickly check the health of your assets.

Widget

Mini-applications dedicated to data representation, which are displayed in the dashboards.
